Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide. PPH cannula creates negative pressure inside the uterus that causes shrinking of the uterus which can assist the physiological process of contraction and retraction to stop atonic postpartum hemorrhage.

PPH Cannula

    • The primary use of PPH cannula is to manage atonic PPH, a condition where the uterus fails to contract properly after childbirth, leading to excessive bleeding.
    • The cannula is inserted into the uterine cavity, and a suction apparatus is used to create negative pressure, which aspirates blood and blood clots, and helps the uterus contract and retract.
    • While primarily used for PPH, Panicker's cannula can also be used in other conditions, such as abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB).
